Just a four hour flight from the Australian east coast. A land of fabulous contrasts. I've always puzzled how the geography can be some different from one island to the next separated by the relatively narrow expanse of the Cook Strait. Volcanoes, geothermal activity and rolling plains in the North; high mountains, fiords and glaciers in the South.
